Carol's Daughter just launched a new collection in December and I was super excited to get my hands on it. Admitedly, I haven't used the brand in quite some time -- I'm talking the original hair milk time -- but I'd heard great things about some of their newer collections so I decided to give Carol another go and see what the Pracaxi Nectar line is all about.
Your first question is probably, what the heck is Pracaxi and how do you say it? To answer that question, it's a conditioning nectar from Brazil that's used to keep hair extra soft and it's pronounced Pra-ca-shee. Now, like most naturals, I'm all about products that promise moisture, especially since I skimp on weekly deep conditioning more often than I should. And with the combination of Pracaxi oil, Acai Extract, Olive Oil, Castor Oil and Shea Butter, I had pretty high hopes about this new line. As a plus, it's also formulated without parabens, petrolatum, mineral oil, or artificial colors, making it good for your hair's health all around.

The first item in the line is a "wash-n-go" leave-in which I can promise will become my best friend. As I've stated in many of my hair reviews, wash-n-gos and I pretty much go together, but even using a co-wash can leave your hair a bit dry when you rinse. What I love about this option is it's a leave-in, which means even more moisture, but it's also lightweight so hair won't feel heavy.

The second product is a curl twisting custard with a texture I absolutely love. It's the perfect balance between cream and pudding, meaning its lightweight but also defines and holds.

The third styler is a control gel hair that helps fight frizz and add hold, while also providing moisture and shine.
Instead of doing my regular old wash-n-go, I decided to put these products to the test with a twist out and see how things transpired. Note: I have only tried a twist out or bantu knot set maybe three times in my entire life and I was never happy with the finished product, but now that <a href="http://madamenoire.com/719571/one-year-of-hair-growth/">my hair has grown</a> out more and I had new products to try, I figured why not?
I began with hair that had been deep conditioned for about 4 hours or so with a conditioning cap. After rinsing, I sectioned my hair by rows, starting at the nape, and applied the custard to the large chunk of hair. Then I took medium-to-large size squares and applied the style control gel before twisting my hair into two-strand twists.

As I always say, I'm a lazy natural, so there was no perfect parting with a rat tail comb, I simply broke apart sections of my hair, applied product, and twisted. I'd already taken my <a href="http://madamenoire.com/780108/10-detangling-tools-make-wash-day/2/">wet brush detangler</a> through my hair with the deep conditioner and I didn't want to comb through my stands anymore after that because my hair loses curl pretty easily. Plus, as I said, I wasn't so sure about my twist out skills so I didn't want to spend more time than necessary if my hair wasn't going to work out in the morning.
I let my hair airdry the rest of the day and throughout the night -- initially, I tied my hair down with a silk scarf but after a few hours it started to annoy me so I took my chances just sleeping with my hair ou t on my silk pillowcases. This morning my hair was completely dry and I simply took apart each section and then split them into about two more smaller sections to loosen my curl more. I have to say I was actually quite pleased with the final result.

My twists stayed perfectly intact throughout the night, and this morning all I had to do was apply oil and edge control to get a polished finish. My hair feels really light and it's not hard at all, not even on the ends which tend to always get a little "crisp" with gel products in my experience. I should also mention my hair smells really great too.
I plan to re-twist my hair tonight and reapply small amounts of the custard and gel for hold again. I'll likely also add a few flexirods on the right side of my hair as well since I have a few ends in the front that refuse to stay curled natural. But overall, I'm extremely happy with the Pracaxi Nectar line which, honestly, has restored my faith in wash-n-gos.
